My Native Story

The Native American story is one of the most important stories yet to be fully told in this country. In Oklahoma, some of the most troubling chapters of that history have been buried beneath a century of silence. Was it neglect? Was it omission? Was it a cover-up? Call it what you may, but the result is the same—the truth remains largely unknown.

My Native Story exists to help change that. Through personal stories, family histories, and lived experiences, we seek to preserve the voices, memories, and truths that might otherwise be lost.

This was never just one family’s story.

The Aftermath will be a collection of Native voices reflecting on the lasting impact of history across generations. Curated by My Native Story in collaboration with the Lucinda Hickory Research Institute, this anthology provides a platform for Native people to share their experiences, preserve their histories, and ensure that future generations hear the stories of the Allotment Era.

If you would like your story to be considered for inclusion, please review the submission guidelines and watch for upcoming workshops on family research, storytelling, and writing.
